When asking the question of whether there is more to the Caribbean than rum and reggae, many people will answer why do you need anything else? Granted the combination makes for a very good time but by only focusing on these two things when visiting the Caribbean, visitors will miss out on so many fantastic travel experiences that each island has to offer.
The fact that there are so many different Caribbean islands to choose from should ensure that you find the one that is perfect for your needs and tastes. If you want to relax by a pool or on a beach all day, there are islands that cater for your needs. If you are an energetic person looking to surf, climb, run and stay active, this is on offer too. No matter what your interest are in life, history, architecture, museums, sight-seeing, hiking a nature trail in the mountains, attending a cultural or music festival, dancing or anything else you can think of, there will be a Caribbean island that fits perfectly with your idea of the good life or a brilliant holiday.

For some people, Jamaica has it all
Jamaica may offer the Caribbean holiday that most people think of, pools, parties, punch and people but if you are looking for relaxation and peace, Aruba is the perfect choice for you. Puerto Rico is ideal for people looking for Hispanic influence and there are plenty of casinos to ensure you can spend the night time having a lot of fun. The architecture in this part of the Caribbean is stunning and is a big draw for people with family history or a strong interest in this area.
If you are looking to surf, and you have a modest budget, Barbados is an excellent location while people who adore diving and hill climbing will appreciate the tiny island of Bonaire. The British Virgin Islands provides the benefits of both of these islands but for people with a lot more money to spend. Montserrat which had a major volcanic eruption provides the opportunity for visitors to see a modern-day Pompeii in the Caribbean. The fact that there are so many islands means that even people with different budget levels can find the perfect sunshine break in the Caribbean. It is important for people to realize that you don’t have to have a lot of money to enjoy what the Caribbean offers.

It should be noted that there are some islands, destinations and resorts that are expensive but there are also plenty of others that provide great value for money and which offer a strong return for your outlay. The Caribbean is truly a place where everyone can find a place where they feel comfortable and where they belong.
