Mandalay Estate, a tropical hideaway vacation home built in 1989 for David Bowie on the beautiful celebrity-studded private Caribbean island of Mustique, part of St. Vincent & The Grenadines is now available for hire as a vacation rental.
Now owned by British businessman and entrepreneur Simon Dolan, Mandalay Estate with an estimated value of US$20million was built by renowned Swedish architect Arne Hasslqvist, who was known for designing celebrity homes in the Caribbean.

Facing west on a hilltop, Mandalay Estate is situated on 6.2 acres of land in Mustique and is a superb location for visitors to enjoy the beautiful and spellbinding sunsets along with white sandy beaches and clear turquoise seas.
The Balinese style vacation home was built around a lavish split level koi pond with waterfalls and an infinity pool which gives the appearance of linking the property to the Caribbean Sea and also draws the flora and fauna of the surroundings into the house. There are five bedroom suites, and each has a private veranda that leads out to the pool.
Beyond the five generously styled bedrooms with names like the Japanese Bedroom, the Caribbean Bedroom, etc., there are several large reception rooms, a dining area, study, games room, infinity pool as well as a number of private garden decks, perfect for sunbathing, dining or relaxing.
Additional sleeping accommodations can be found in a self-contained writers cottage which was regularly used by poet and publisher Felix Dennis who actually purchased the property from David Bowie in 1995. There is also a private pavilion which was originally David Bowie’s recording studio, and this offers additional accommodations for guests.
Mandalay Estate has modern amenities and despite the change in ownership retains most of the original fixtures and styling installed by the rock legend. Rental costs for this secluded vacation home on the beautiful Caribbean island of Mystique is from US$39,800 a week in low season and rental periods are a minimum of 7 days. Guests will be pampered and attended to by eight on-site staff who will ensure that guests have a memorable Caribbean vacation.
